I recall at least one other guy who came on here with similar story to you. Large irregular mole, biopsy site left mole there. He showed a pic and I think several people were concerned for him – it was a very unusual looking mole. I don’t think he ever came back which to me assumes it was a good sign and he was fine. Usually you come back when things aren’t good and you need more info.Unfortunately you won’t know for another week or so. Just try to live life as normal as you can and let’s hope you come back with good news too.

Hello… Did you favor the foot when it was swollen and perhaps your alignment is off? Often times when we compensate for things, it affects others. Does it warrant seeing a physical therapist?

Hi Jennifer… I haven’t had nearly the experience you have but I can relate to a certain extent. Today I was at the gym and I was barely able to run 3 miles when three years ago today I ran the New York marathon. My friends are all planning winter outings to go to sunny places and go boating and the last thing that I want to do is sit in the sun.
On the flipside… I was insanely grateful this AM to be able to run 3 miles. One year ago I wasn’t running at all. I am trying to appreciate even the smallest amounts of progress otherwise I will get frustrated.
I wish you the best and a speedy and healthy recovery.
PS – I’m in California and we see all sorts of crazy hair cuts out here. I bet you look great!

I was diagnosed 10 months ago and I will say the anxiety has gone down with time. I am diligient and do my tests, I point out everything I can, I get second opinions when needed, I got the best doctor I could find, but otherwise I realized at a certain point I need to try to enjoy life.
Seperately – I hold out hope because so many people have done well on the new treatments that God Forbid anything go bad, the outcome will hopefully be far better now than it was in the past.
Catching melanoma at Stage I is a blessing…. but you are still in the melanoma family which will rattle even the strongest of us. Your fear is not unfounded – but dont let it take your happiness from you. I wish you the best and stay strong – we all need to fight this!

Unfortunately this is a world of waiting. I have seen the results take anywhere from two weeks to three weeks so your doctor seems right on. I am not an expert here but I think it’s very rare for someone to have more than one melanoma. Usually, If anything, at most there may be one but many people get normal results. In the overall population, Melanoma is a rare disease.
My guidance would be try to assume all is ok and don’t ready any of the boards or do any more research. Try to assume everything is OK and then if she calls and says differently, we will all be here to support you and provide input regarding what is next.
Please keep positive thoughts for the best outcome.

I believe Dr James Jakowatz is the main person at UCI. I have not seen him but I have read things about him.
Best of luck to you and your husband!

My dad got melanoma twice then got lymphoma about 5 years after his second occurrence. I expressed my concern about this to my doctor but she insists there is no connection between melanoma and lymphoma. If you look online there are articles though that reference the two. I would be curious to hear others' thoughts.
Best wishes and prayers to you

Hi…. my melanoma was stage I/level 3 on my bicip and even a year later, the lymph node in my armpit on that side is still larger than the other side. Its about the size of a marble or peanut M&M. I recall someone saying it could be trauma from surgery or something. Its just never gone back down. I keep an eye on it just to make sure it doesnt get bigger or more dont enlarge. Best of luck with everything – I know how concerning it is.

I really recommend you give it time to heal appropriately. Mine was on my bicep and it opened and got infected. I was down for an additional 2-3 weeks to treat that. I either lifted something or returned to gym too quickly.
