John, hopefully this will add a little solace to your situation…I was diagnosed stage 3A , almost 5 years ago(will be 5 in July) primary was 2mm, had .9mm micro met in one lymph node . To date I’ve been fortunate enough to just watch and wait with lymph node ultrasounds. Had a suspicious one pop up last summer and was biopsied to just turn out to be benign…just wanted you to know there’s some of us out there fortunate enough at stage 3A to make it years without reaccurence …best of luck with your health

It’ll be 4 years this July since I was diagnosed stage 3a. I had the WLE done on calf and SLNB done in left groin. Still NED today after a bit of a scare this past July when a lymph node looked suspicious . Had a fine needle biopsy done on it and it was normal… so the tests get a bit easier as time passes, but are there for good reason, to catch something suspicious looking …Take care and I wish the best for your mother

I can only offer my personal experience, diagnosed 3 1/2 years ago with stage 3a melanoma . I had one micromet to one of 4 lymph nodes taken out, it was .9mm. I chose watch and wait which at the time wasn’t the standard of care, which now is from my understanding from what my oncologist told me in December . All has been well with me so far other than a lymph node that looked suspicious last July, had a fine needle aspiration biopsy and it turned out ok..,so still NED coming up on 4 years…hope this helps some , and best of luck to your husband

I'm stage 3a as well. Had one lymph node out of the four taken out in the SLNB show a micro met. Chose watch and wait as that was 3 years ago, a couple more options for you now…have my 3 year scans next week so if it's any solace for you, there's people that have gone through what you're experiencing and doing well so far. I wish you the best as of course this is difficult to deal with always .
Good Luck and take care,
Craig
