Hello to you,
I am so sorry to hear your husband is suffering mentally while going theough this treatment.
I suffered several years ago with interferon and by the end of the protocol was suicidal, and taken off of it.
I did not know that was a side effect of it actually.
I am 14 years out from my second bout with stage III and am about to have a scary biopy this Thirsday.
Don’t forget that insomnia get also cause mental symptoms big time, so is it the insomnia that caused the anxiety and depression which was causes by the meds?
Definitely talk to the oncologist along with the paych of course.
I am extremely sensitive to medication also. It is awful….
Prayers for you and your hubby as you navigate this journey.
Hugs

Sorry for the typos- and as mentioned above- the whole diagnosis can certainly cause this too….
I suffer depression and anxiety and am treated by a psychiatrist.
It took me probably 5 or more years to overcome the severity of the ptsd symptoms….
Now they have all rushed back with this impending diagnosis.

Hi there,
I have had lymphedema for about 14 yrs now. I did not get it from the SNB or 4 nodes removed, I got it afyer a recurrence and had to have many nodes removed in the groin area.
When I am on the thinner side it is less, when i gain weight it acts up more. I have a level 1 or something lymphedema but since I gained 20 lbs every day by mid to end of work day it is swollen.
You may be fine with just a SNB.
I don’t exercise anymore either…
Hope this helps any.

Thank you so much, there certainly are more options these days.
I do have a melanoma oncologist and if it would be another recurence I would go over which treatment or where is the best option for me.
I travelled to Sloan Kettering in NY for the last big one.
I will ask him regarding removing or biopsying it also.
The PET scan is first so that will tell alot- like if it has gone to other places.
Thank you so much for the relpy, i’m still figuring out my way around this site, and wow there really are more options.

Hi there,
I just started in this support group and i’d like to jump in and say that I was dx stage 3 with centinal nodes positive and had surgery and interferon (didn’t work) in 2002. In 2004 it returned as bumps from the inside on my thigh, knee, and groin lymph nodes. I then had 3 chemos and surgery and 3 chemos. I have been NED since 2005! I do not know if I am Braf positive or negative and have wondered if it makes a difference in survival rates as well.
I am here now because I have a nodule in my calf and will be having it removed and a PET scan on the 11th of April. Removal on the 18th.
All my greatest feats have come rushing back to me but I see there are new drugs now since way back, and I do know friends that unfortunately they failed. I am now 44 yrs old and was 30 when I was positive last.
Prayers for us all!
So glad there are survivors.
Hope this helps-some.

Hi Celeste, I have recently come to this support group and have been reading some threads and posts. I have to say, you make me laugh, you have a great sense of humor!!!
I am 14 years NED of stage 3 melanoma that I had two times and found a nodule of some sort on my leg again…I will be having a PET scan on the 11th of April and an easy removal of the nodule in my calf on the 18th. Needless to say i’ve been here browsing the threads and looking for hope.
I am scared $/!t….!

Hi all,
I hope the biopsy came back beningn.
I am experiencing something under my skin as well. My leg has a lump in it- not really hard and you can only feel it when my leg is swollen. My leg swells from lympedema. My dermatologist told me to see the oncology suegeon to get it properly checked. It’s been 14 years since my last recurrence of melanoma. I had it two times toal. It was originally on my ankle. Bump is in my calf.
I too am nervous but hoping it is nothing. It was nice to read your posts that turned out to be benign.
