Hello Butterfly74.I too am stage 1a and like you I googled everything when I was first DX’d in hope to find the answer and reassurance. My best advice is too stay off google it really enchances your anxiety. I can say with time you slowly learn to love again. It still is raw and some days are better than others.i can honestly say when was discharged from my skin nurse I have hardly given MM a thought. Be vigilant keep up with your appts because that relay does help Kong you are being looked after. I am hereto chat anytime x

Hi there, I had the dog ears on my lower leg. It’s is tight but once healing as started I was massaging as many time a day as possible. It feels fine now, I am glad I did not have a skin graft. When I had my WLE in April, I was on vacation in Florida in May.. not issues.Good luck

Hello there, you won’t need an oncologist. Find a good dermatologist one you can trust and work with. I too at the beginning was looking for specialists and I visited so many private dermatologist last year, As I felt I needed to get control back and understand my pathology (which I still don’t really understand). I just sent a message to you on here, but I don’t really know where it goes. My email address is [email protected], drop me an email anytime.Mandy x

It is it is very overwhelming, I was on anxiety medication as I could not cope at first. My dermatologist was not concerned of my dx either, I am based in the UK so care differs here. My follow up here was for one year only every 3 months and then if no further issues discharged from NHS care, which I am now. I asked about scans and xrays but it’s not is not part of the care that is offered for Stage 1 here. I did have a blood test for vitamin D, which was low and am now on supplements for the rest of my life. Last year was a really hard year and I never thought it would get easier, but it does slowly. I will be seeing a private dermatologist every 6 months and I think that helps with feeling a little more confident. Please reach out anytime to me, happy to PM my email address to communicate if that is easier x -

Hi there,I would book the 7th Jan and if you can get a sooner appt else where you can cancel it.
When I looked up private dermatologist, ie. Nuffield/Spire Or Winfield will have private dermatologist that you can get into see in about a week, it is costly it for piece of mind worth it.
Mole mapping is well worth doing too if you have many moles, I would make it a yearly think.
I was diagnosed with Stage 1a Melanoma, which has made me more in tune with my body and protect it so much more now.
i feel your anxiety, remember you are getting it seen too and hopefully it will be nothing to worry about.
Good luck.

Hi there,Can you put a ruler against your mole and take a picture, it will be easier to see if it grows in size. Try the miiskin app, it’s good.
Rather than waiting for the nhs, book in private I know it’s costly but you will be seen quicker and if they are concerned they will remove it. I am based in the UK, and totally understand your view on the NHS, you need to find a specialist you can trust and if its Private so be it. I was diagnosed with MM and have seen many private dermatologist and will do for the rest of my life.
Good luck and push to be seen.
