Merry I took Zelboraf from February 2012 and stopped December 2016. Within three months of taking the node shrank to normal. I started at 8 pills per day and had every side effect. Stopped for a week and dropped to 6 pills per day. Stayed on that dose until I stopped treatment. Managed the side effects well and had no complications. Over time the side effects became even less. I remained NED the entire time while on Zelboraf. After 20-months post Zelboraf I unfortunately am no longer NED. Three lymph nodes this time and 3 doses of Opdivo didn’t work. Next in the cue is Braftovi+Mektovi combo. I hope for nothing but the best with your loved one on Zelboraf.

Hi Dick,
It's Kellie. I'm so glad to hear of your news. I must say it's quite the torch you hold for us being so far out on treatment and remaining NED! You keep my hope in full swing anytime I have doubts. I too have been taking Z for about 22 months. Scans in October (my three year mark from reoccurrence) remain NED. Six week labs just completed which also remain great. I watched Barbara Walters most fascinating people the other day and Robin Roberts made a profound statement that I think we all can relate to (not a direct quote but to this effect), "my fear comes from my past, my future is unknown, I am learning every day to live in my present and enjoy what I have today."
Hope you have a great holiday and safe and Happy New Year!

Dick,
I speak of you often regarding your 3-year mark. I'm shortly coming up on one year of taking Zelboraf. I have scans on February 5th so as always hoping for the same news as the last time. No evidence of metastatic disease present. The scan anxiety has gotten better but anytime it is coupled with a brain MRI I tend to freak a bit. I'm am so happy to read your and Al's posts. I also love to read in my clinic notes "complete response". Keep fighting and living life. I know I am.
Take care!

Great news Al! I just had scans on Friday and love the second page "no evidence of metastatic disease present". I've been on Zelboraf since February and I agree with you, the side effects are quite manageable. Heck, the day after scans I did a two hour charity Zumba-thon at our local college. Loving life!

I had a similar reaction when I started at 8 pills back in February. It was reduced to six per day. Here is what I use:
Moisturizing Cream with ceramides and hyaluronic acit (OTC)
Tretinion .05% gel (low dose prescription for acne)
I just posted a recent profile picture as of today. The above has worked wonders for my skin. Wish you all the best.

Nate and Thanny,
Melanoma as you have read is not forgiving. Once found agressive treatment is the only option (strictly my opinion). I have had my children and know this is a tough decision for you both. I have never asked my prognosis. All you will hear are statistics which don't apply to you. Each person is different. Given that, I wouldn't wait if I was in your shoes. I'm one of the odd-balls that had a 10% chance of reoccurrence from a mole removal back in 2006. Four years later it showed up in lymph nodes in my groin. Diagnosed Stage IIIB/C. After surgery, radiation, Phase I immunotherapy trial (11 of 12 doses), and now Zelboraf I am NED. It's been two years. Don't wait.
