Hi Kelly am so sorry you are going through this! My twin sister was diagnosed with stage 3b while 5 months pregnant. She was induced a month early to receive scans and start treatment. She gave birth to a healthy boy who just turned 4 years old in January! This coming up sept she will be going on 5 years of having no evidence of disease! If you want I can give you my email and then put you in contact with her, even just emailing back and forth. I know it is a scary time but know that there is hope:) My email is [email protected] if you are on Facebook you can find her her name is Sara McEvilly from Wisconsin. Prayers for you and the baby!
Take care,
Jessica

Hi Donna,
Just wanted to add to this post… I was a caregiver to my twin sister who was diagnosed with stage 3b. She did the 1 month high dose and then maintence for a year. The first 3 days were the hardest! She had the rigors, fever, chills, so on and was questioning her decision. But on the fourth day we came home from the hospital and were waiting, waiting and waiting for the rigors and side effects and they didn't come. I won't say that she never had side effects again but nothing like those first couple of days. The best thing that helped her was water (until she developed gills from drinking so much lol) and ibupropen and tylenol before her infusion or shots.
To give you some hope she was playing volleyball 2x or more a week while doing maintence shots and continued to do everything she did before treatment. She just had to learn to listen to her body and rest when she needed it.
She was diagnosed Sept 2009 and currently NED so something is working for her 🙂

My sister was diagnosed with stage 3b Sept 09 and a couple of months ago she found a lump under her arm that she had her SNB. She had a needle biopsy done and it turned out to be a reactive node. So hang on and don't worry till it's time to worry!

Thank You Dentholla! Yes twins do share a very special bond! I was fortunate to have such a understanding husband. He let me take off of work and basically move in with my sister. She said something that forever touched me, that if she couldn't take care of her newborn %100 she wanted the next best thing… her identical twin sister. I see that your husband was diagnosed, hang in there it's a tough road but there are people who survive it.

Hey Becca,
I would say if you are having any doubts about your dr than get a second opinion. We need to be our own advocates when it comes to health care and if something isn't sitting right with what he is telling you than seek out a different dr. We had to hire and fire a few oncologists:)
My sister had scans every 3 months for the fist 1 1/2 and now is going on a 6 month scan routine. Which involves CT/ MRI's and no PET scans.
I know it's a hard decision especially when not much is offered for this stage. But just keep your head up and talk to some more dr.s see what they say but do it soon because of the time from your surgery you may be limited for trials.
Wishing luck and sending prayers!
Jessica
