I had mets to brain, both lungs and intestine.  They were all removed surgically and I've been NED for almost seven years.

I have been stage IV for 6 years and understand your feelings.  I give thanks for my good fortune but it's also in my head that I'm just once scan away from starting all over (though with much better treatment options).  While I don't want to leave the planet early, I take some comfort knowing that since I was first diagnosed I've been able to walk both of my daughters down the aisle and now have grandsons.  So if I'm run over by a bus tomorrow, it's still been a pretty good run.

I had a lobe resection done eight years ago.  Zero post surgical problems.  No travel restrictions, though I didn't actually fly for serveral months.  I have no feeling of hollowness in the chest.  All in all, not a difficult experience, especially since I've not had a recurrance in that lung.  I had a smaller resection in the other lung about two months after the first surgery.  No recurrance there, either.

I'm stage IV.  Have been NED for 7 years.  My St. Louis doc was at the top of field.  I'll wait to see who they bring in before I make a move to Chicago.
