It sucks that you have to go throught his but you would much rather catch this at iii than iv to put it bluntly. You already seeem like like are dealing with a good place ( mayo) and they will help you with a good game plan. The LND dissection is a much more invasive procedure than than SNB. Did they take the nodes from your going?

I am stage IIIb and also looking for a tiral. So far the ipi adjuvant tiral seems the most promising to me but there is 50/50 chance of getting a placebo. There are other trials like vaccine, oncovex etc. The best resource is http://www.clinicaltrials.gov That is the most obvious one so hopefully some more experienced members can offer more insight.

I am pretty new to this but I do know I have read a lot of stories/profiles about people succeeding with multiple gamma knife procedures. I know that brain mets sound frightening but they can definitley be defeated. With him having someone like you in his corner I feel like you guys have as good a chance as anyone.

hey kate,
i am stage III person as well. Had the WLE and having full groin dissection on friday. What are your plans after interferron? Just curious because it seems like there isn't many options for those at stage III. I feel like I wasnt to get a head start on this battle but there aren't many options. Hoping to hear some good stories in response to your post! I could use the inspiration as well.

I know its not great news but its a good thing that you are BRAF positive and have a lot of options. Plus it doesn't hurt that you are very knowledgeable and have a great attitude. I feel like I've learned a lot by reading your posts. Hoping the next option you choose does the trick.

Gwen,
I can really empathize with your situation. I am also stage IIIC and have been offered a few options but I'm not sure what to do. Everyone is excited about BRAF but i don't think theres anything available at stage III, theres the ipi adjuvant trial but theres a placebo, and IL2 and Biochemo are options but if theres no clear metastaic disease to target are those options over agressive? Watch and Wait scares me because the PET scan only catches the beast at a certain size. Is there something I'm missing?
