Hi! I went through IL-2 treatment about 2 years ago. My story is posted in the patients stories section of this website, it details my treatment and my recovery afterwards. I will say it was not the most pleasant experience but the healthcare providers are wonderful at helping you get through it. I also have a blog, Heatherdevlin.blogspot.com. We detailed each day of treatment as it was happening.
I wish you all the best. Try to be positive and strong!!!

Hello,
i was diagnosed stage 1 February 2010 with a lesion on my right ear. Treated with local wide excision.
September 2011 I was hospitalized with internal bleeding. Melanoma had metastasized to my ovary. Stage 4. It was surgically removed before pathology was confirmed . PET/CT confirmed 1 lymph node and 6 other subcutaneous nodules. Treated with high dose IL-2 from 10/11-2/12. I have been NED since 3/12. I feel great physically. The emotional recovery, if you call it that, has been the most challenging.
Life is a gift!

I had severe itching after my IL2 treatment, even after my skin had totally healed. I used Sarna lotion and Benadryl, sometimes together and sometimes alone. Sometimes I just itched, it's hard not to. My itchiness lasted about 6 months after treatment. Some days, even weeks, were symptom free. Then the itching would return. It does go away. I told myself this was my body still responding to the IL-2, which made me feel positive about the uncomfortable situation.

I was diagnosed stage 1 in February, 2010, age 38. Diagnosed stage 4 September, 2011, age 39. I was in the sun as much as I could be as a young person and used tanning beds on a very regular basis between 15-25. I had several blistering, peeling burns before age 18.
