If I were you, I would ask my doctor what major research center he/she would want me to go to, and I would ask the office to call and make the appointment for me. You get in faster that way.

Also, be prepared to have all your scans and boipsies physically sent to the research center. They want their own people to look at the actual tests, not just the report. You want this also, because these researchers are the best there are.

The latest statistics for Merck's anti-PD1 drug (MK-3475) are much better than anything else I have seen for the treatment of melanoma… 41% response rate with 81% survival at 1 year. While still in the clinical trial stage, it is supposed to be approved by the FDA later this year.

The next best thing out there is Yervoy (ipilimumab)… not sure what the response rate was but 1-year survival from the trial stage was 46% and 2-year was 24%.
