I'm sitting at Rush Univ Med Center while my husband is having a 3 month follow up CT.  If results are good, he will be 1 year NED with stage IV melanoma.  Hoping to report good news!

Saying my prayers and keeping the faith.

Hope it goes well.  Which Dr do you see now that Kaufman left?

Yesterday we saw Dr. Bines.  He performed the LND on my husband in 2011 and we have been following up with he & Kaufman since.  We have not switched over to another Melanoma specialist.  Fortunately, my husband has not had to have anything other than surgery to remove the melonoma.

We still keep in touch with Dr. Kaufman and if something comes up, we will consult with him.

I've sat there many times waiting on my CT results….they were always good until Kaufman was leaving and he directed me to Richards. Who has been great as well as Dr. Hallmeyer. Anyway my point being…I'm praying for clear scans for your husband. I know the anxiety…I have mine next week and it consumes your every thought. Wishing you the best!!!

Josh – keeping you in my prayers for good results next week.  As you know, the days of the scans are emotionally draining and we always go home exhausted!

Hoping to hear good news from you next week.

Thank you everyone for your support and prayers.  The people on this site are the best!

We are now 1 year NED!!!  Scans came back with 'nothing of great concern.'  We are relieved to say the least.  Emotionally exausted by the time we got home….but I'm preaching to the choir here ๐Ÿ™‚

We will have another CT in May and we are having an MRI within the next week since it's been 6 months.

I have a question I was hoping someone could help out with.  I read the CT report last night and at the end of the report, there is an ATTENDING IMPRESSION entry which states the following:  "There is some degree of nodularity along the new staple line and close attention on follow up examinations is recommended."  I'm not exactly sure what that means.  By 'new staple line' I'm assuming it's were he had the most recent dissection of the non-cancerous nodules.

Does anyone know what this means?  Let me know if more information from the CT is needed.

        Thanks!  Julie

Radiologists mention EVERYTHING.  Your doc has to interpret what is significant and if he doesn't say anything, it means it doesn't seem significant to him.  This could be something as simple as scar tissue. Confirm with your doc, but don't worry too much.

Don't you bet the Doc will say that the staples pinch the flesh?
