      Hey everyone!

Once again, looking for advice. Today was a scheduled treatment day. I have been on Nivo for 7 months now. This whole time my labs have been perfect no issues what so ever until today. My liver counts were SKY HIGH. Last month they were normal. So obviously no treatment.

Basically trying to figure out what our next steps are. Repeat labs on Monday. Anyone expierence this…? Why just now?

Sorry to hear your situation.  I had this happen while on the ipi/nivo combo.  I started with high fever 104F which tylenol brought down to 103F.  Then came the nausea/vomiting.  Finally labs showed liver numbers very high.  They put me right on IV steroids and then moved me to tablets so I could be released from the hospital.  It took a little over two months to bring my liver numbers down to normal range.

I'm afraid I don't have an answer to why it's happening now.  Everyone reacts differently.  I've been on nivo alone for 18 and have been doing fine but at any time I could have some autoimmune reaction.

Take some time to let your liver heal and try not to worry too much about missing treatment.

        Good wishes to you.

Hi jjk17, im Mike nice 2 meet you, in my own experience with various meds since i started last Nov 2017, Pembro and now ipi/nivo, i too had a few cancellations due to either skyrocket Thyroid numbers (extreme low t4) or Extremely low ACTH level (adrenal, cortisol, pituitary etc) and thats been fairly recently, ya im not a “veteran” like alotta folks here with 20 or more infusions under their belts but, just remember, our meds have literally taken over our immune system & that effects organ function as well. Some folks start having bloodwork results showing poor scores after 2 years of treatment! Some right away! We are all different…your on track believe me…Mike

Hi Mike! Thank you for the kind words. It’s very discouraging, especially when I have had normal labs this whole time and have felt some what my self. Nothing that would have alarmed me of this. Thank you again for the reassurance.

After 3 combo treatments, Opdivo/Yervoy my treatments also canceled.  Tearfully i was put on Prednisone, 100mg 2 weeks, then 80, 60 etc.  Blood work every week watching it slowly go down. Then Jan when it was back to normal I was put on Opdivo maintenance.  I google liver diease diet. So I reduced sodium, only ate walnuts, obviously  no tylenol, statins.  Thru this forum i found support that even tho treatments stopped, the stuff put in us kept working. Keep the faith. Sharon

Thank you very much for this information. Obviously, naturally right away I think the worse. I just hope and pray it goes down on its own. Hopefully we have more answers on Monday. Crazy how I feel myself, no abnormalities what so ever.

On the week of my last IPI treatment, I started having fevers. We did blood and culture tests plus chest x-ray to rule out infection. A week later, my blood test showed my liver emzymes off the the chart. Went on Prednisone and two days later emzymes continued to go up. A week later, everything was back to normal. It was decided to forego the last IPI treatment because of liver toxicity.

Hope your's can be treated easily and you can continue your treatments. Hang in there.

                  Nick
