AMEN! You tell 'em Mike, I can't stand how much there is with how much recaptcha that I'm constantly required to deal with. I understand that they don't want to moderate the forums because then it becomes a bigger hassle for both those submitting, conversations aren't instant and they almost need to be.

But I agree with you Mike, they got to go. The site admins need to figure out a better solution than a recaptcha box. I would start tracking IP's, usernames etc and hit the jokers with the ban hammer.

Here is an idea, get rid of anonymous posting, that would cut in half at least.

Anonymous posters are NOT anonymous to the admins.  It's only on the BB display that you don't see their name but they had to register as a user to post.

It’s too large a problem to ban individual IPs. They tend to be in geographic clumps that can be found and that sometimes is a key, or it was on an international board I helped moderate. Large swaths were set up so the spammers weren’t able to register.

They are real dirtbags. Blocking user names doesn't help because they just set up new accounts. Also blocking IP addresses is futile because they forge IP addresses. The only thing the reCAPTCHA thingie does is prevent a bot from generating spam messages. It doesn't prevent a team of these dirtbags from posting spam messages using the same user ID. Though reCA{TCHA has helped, this forum needs a better solution than what we have.
