    In May we found a small spot on small intestine. Started zelboraf end of may. Scans in July showed shrinkage. Scans done Monday show growth again. I wasn’t surprised since my stomach had been having issues. So plan is to do surgery to just cut it out (which I wanted originally anyway). And start ipi on Tuesday.

    So it’s been a rough week. To top it off my poor dog Dublin got hit by a car while we were crossing the street on Monday night. He’s ok. Just a messed up back foot. Poor guy.

    Not looking forward to intestine surgery… But feel much more comfortable just having the spot cut out! I told my doctor my mom is still hoping its just parasites I picked up in Thailand .

      Good luck with the surgery. I’m with you on just “cut it out”. I hope they can completely excise it and that you have a smooth recovery.

        Sorry to hear that Zel has stopped. All the best with your surgery and hope that IPI can clean up the rest. Ali from Australia posted a really positive result from IPI recently.

        Sorry about your dog too, how stressful.

      I will be thinking about you with the surgery and the Ipi.  So sorry the zel stopped working, but I am positive your docs at Sloan know what they are doing and cutting it out sounds great.  (Although I really like your mom's theory of a Thai parasite instead of melanoma!)  Please keep us posted as you go through this next stage of treatment.  I will be holding you in the light.

      Erin – so sorry to hear this news. I see my onc on Monday for results of a follow up CT, my PET showed continued shrinkage in my heart tumor but multiple new lymph nodes lighting up in my chest/abdomen. Also switching to IPI. Are you really doing surgery one day then IPI the next?? Ypu go girl! My doc said I would need a couple weeks off Zel which I am not happy about. Best of luck to you!!

      I am sorry to hear that… I agree that the parasite theory is  one that sounds good to me too! I have to say that having the mel surgically removed just always seems to feel better. Coming out of the OR knowing it is gone. I am surprised they are starting the ipi right after surgery!We will look forward to hearing of your good progress. Praying for you with the upcoming surgery…
