Hi this is Brenda writing on behalf of Kevin. Unfortunately I had to check him in to the hospital today. He began having intense pain in the lower part of his head Sunday night, lasting all day Monday. He was already having trouble eating, what with all the stress of waiting for scan results, and the pain made it worse. Unable to sleep or hold any sort of liquid or medication down, we made the choice to go to the E.R , we were only there for an hour, they gave him a prescription for pain (Percocet) , told him not to stress, and sent us on our way.
Hi this is Brenda writing on behalf of Kevin. Unfortunately I had to check him in to the hospital today. He was already having trouble eating, what with all the stress of waiting for scan results, and the pain made it worse. Unable to sleep or hold any sort of liquid or medication down, we made the choice to go to the E.R , we were only there for an hour, they gave him a prescription for pain (Percocet) , told him not to stress, and sent us on our way.
The pain medication didn't help, after numerous calls to his radiation oncologist, we got a call back with the advice to have him admitted. Although his wish was to zap the remaining mets in his head and start IL2 and possibly go back on Zelboraf it looks like we may have to take another route. Because of all the swelling in his brain he is back on a steroid (for now), with the addition of new mets in his lungs and one in his hip area, the plan now is to do whole brain radiation and follow up with Temodar, with the hopes of some brain stabilization in order to be eligible for some clinical trials (fingers crossed).
Even with this small bump in the road his spirits are still higher than ever. He's a fighter, he's Kevin. And Kevin doesn't give up.
His mpip family has always had a special place in his heart, so i ask all of you to please send Kevin some good vibes.

Remember every treatment can buy you time til another treatment regime is put together, clinical trial comes along etc. Hold each other tight and remain the strong fighters that you both are.

He's so young and been through so much already; however, there's still more to fight and he can do it! Please send him our love and big hugs to climb this hill in his journey. Thank you so much for posting and giving us all a chance to send strong prayers and vibes for kevin and you. He is strong and so full of hope and courage. , I hope he can continue to hold on to that during this time. I am so glad you were able to get him back in the hospital, I am sorry he was in such pain.

I am so depressed over your setback Kevin. This disease is so unfair. Why do drugs work on some and not others. My heart is broken for you both. I hope that the brain mets will get under control.

Please tell him that WBR can be effective in the stabilization of brain mets, my husband, Phil completed WBR the first week of November, and his MRIs have been fine since that time! I have been on this Board for many years and am continually amazed at how some people can turn things around when all seems lost. Kevin i know you will too.

Soooo sorry to hear this latest update on KEVIN ! What a trooper he has been and still is. He has encouraged soooo many of us here. PLEASE GET TO THE BEST OF THE BEST OF THE BEST TREATMENT YOU CAN, NOW !
Don't wait, do not pass go, do not collect $200 (well, maybe take the money :-))) – but GO !
Know that we are PRAYING FOR YOU and ASKING GOD to heal Kevin and to show him what to do and when and how, and to give wisdom and skills to the Doctors and other medical folks involved.
PLEASE UPDATE OFTEN ! JUST SICK TO HEAR THIS……….
