There's a dermatologist dr Neal Schultz has a you tube channel . He states on one episodes that small <1 or 2 mm in diameter melanoma moles are always 'completely curable'

has anyone heard such a thing?

May I ask a few questions about it? What was it that made you get it checked? Did it have any of the signs (abcde's)? Also, how deep was it?

          Thank you

I agree, but in theory, a cancerous mole would keep growing or changing shape size start bleeding and showing more signs would it not? It it only changes color and nothing else just stays the same how could the cancer grow without anymore visual changes?

What about it a mole that's changed dark but didn't grow or change shape? Could a melanoma stop growing in size or shape, only change to a dark color?

PS, good luck with your biopsy and if you want to keep in touch, it would be nice to chat with someone who is going through this wait. It's my first one and it's probably the scariest thing I have been through. I am trying to breathe, do mediation and eat well, but it's not easy as it's always on my mind and waking up with panic attacks… ugh.

Thank you for the advice and insight, it means so much to me, you have no idea. YES, I feel more calm with information, even thought it really probably doesn't change anything, but i feel 'some' sense of control I guess. I am extremely anxious, and I am sure this isn't healthy to be so worried.

Thank you for the thoughts on my little black mole. I had similar ideas that this would be early melanoma if it's only 2mm, but now the more I look at it (the dermatologist took a pic for me as I couldn't see it on my back) it looks more like the nodular melanoma, although not very raised, but very round and black. I have no idea how long it was that dark, but I did see a pic of my back from 2 years ago from taken from afar and I can see the spot, but it doesn't look black, so it may have evolved to black and I have no idea when, so that is worrying me as I had no idea and wasn't watching it like i do with my other moles I see. I don't know if it was hard or raised, but i asked the derm if it was raised and she said 'slightly', but it does look a little bit like the nodular melanomas without the dome shape. Do you think that nodular melanoma are always dome shaped?

I guess i will have to wait and see. She said pathology takes 2 weeks, and I am preparing for that. Hopefully it's sooner.

Thank you for replying, it means alot. My derm was also very concerned when she saw how dark this mole was. My only "hope" that is keeping me off the ledge is that this mole was tiny (2mm) not very raised, so I am hoping that small means not as invasive, which I guess even smaller diameter moles can still be very deep, but I am hoping not.

If you don't mind me asking did you ever get diagnosed with melanoma before?
