So it appears that change seems to be the biggest factor when it comes to detecting melanoma. My question… is there a point at which melanoma STOPS changing? For example let's say you aquired a new mole 5-10 years ago and it has never changed. It popped up one day and stayed the same. Could that be melanoma? Or would it just continuously keep changing??
thanks!

If it were melanoma it would have continued to change and grow just like any other type of cancerous tumor.

The best rule of thumb is if a mole is making you question if it is melanoma then that means it's time to schedule a dermatology appointment and have a professional look at it and biopsy it.

I agree, but in theory, a cancerous mole would keep growing or changing shape size start bleeding and showing more signs would it not? It it only changes color and nothing else just stays the same how could the cancer grow without anymore visual changes?

In theory, yes. But sometimes reality is very different from theory, so it's just best to get it checked out professionally no matter what. There are plenty of "out of the ordinary" cases in melanoma.
