I just wanted to say I am sorry.  I hope both of you find peace in the days ahead.  My thoughts are with you.

I'm sorry to hear about your wife's diagnosis.  I understand that all of this can be very confusing and overwhelming.  There are many reasons to go see a melanoma specialist.  One of them being that they are familiar and "in touch" with all the clinical trials and treatments and they can help you navigate this.  Ipi is still a current treatment and is being combined with other treatments to "speak" to a specific gene mutation.  If you are in Greenville, you are fairly close to Charlotte.  Dr. Asim Amin and Dr. Richard White are melanoma specialist at Carolinas Medical Center and Levine Cancer institiute.  They were my husbands doctors and in our opinion the best we could have had.  Just a suggestion.  I wish you and your wife the best.

Hello,  I can not help you with the insurance info, however I c an recommend a melanoma specialist and surgical oncologist.  Dr. Asim Amin and Dr. richard White are at Levine Cancer Institute at Carolinas Medical center.  Dr. Amin is a medical oncologist and Dr. White is a surgical oncologist.  They both specialize in melanoma and they are both absolutely wonderful.  We have BCBS and never had a problem with insurance.  I wish you luck in your decisions.

I understand.  I was in the same place 11 years ago.  My husband also found a lump in his armpit.

Take a deep breath, hug your husband and try to stay off of the internet, except for this page, of course.  This forum has  many people with a wealth of knowledge, compassion and experience.

My first advice to you would be to a melanoma specialist as soon as possible.  In the past few years there have been several new treaments and advances in fighting melanoma that have given all of us hope and time.

I know that all of this is exremely overwhelming and will continue to be so.  I can tell you that in the midst of hard decisions that sometimes don't make sense, there is laughter, joy, tears, smiles and most of all time.  There will be things you do not understand, don't be afraid to ask questions.

I wish the best for your family, and remember there is hope in the days ahead.

Sarna helped a lot during my husbands IL2 treatment.  Wishing your Dad peace through this treatment.  IT is tough but he can do it!
