Articles like this is what confuses me… First this group was trying to reassure everyone thin melanomas have an excellent prognosis.. Matter of fact, they said they were seeing people live 20 years or longer from intial diagnosis. Now they are saying there are more deaths from thin melanomas than thick ones. I think they truly don't even know. And until they do know for a fact they need to quit putting anything out there for the people to read. "Thin melanomas have an excellent survival rate, but more people die from them." Isn't that like an oxymoron???? We don't need any more anxiety than we already have from our diagnosis. So, they need to quit guesstimating and start finding actual cures for this horrible disease.

Being diagnosed with melanoma is scary!! I remember I got the news on a weekend.. Yes a weekend and had to wait until the following Monday for details. I cried and was scared out of my witts. I remember telling my Mother and she cried and said, " But you're all that I've got." It broke my heart to hear her say that… God Rest Her Soul….. She died not too long after that, but she was with me until my last surgery. Thank God for that. But please get a great support system around you, friends, family whoever will listen, because this helps a lot. Be sure to get your path report, as I'm sure it has already been stated in previous posts and take someone with you every time you see your doctor. That way when your nerves get the best of you they can listen to the doctor and help you remember what was said. Plus having someone there is always an awesome comfort. Once you get specifics on your path report post them here and then some of the people here can give you a better idea of what to expect. But always remeber to seek a melanoma specialists and do the best treatment and follow up care for YOU… Keep us updated soldier!! 🙂
