I just wanted to update you. After being denied by the insurance for the Yervoy, Eric's Oncologist had us submit assistance paperwork through Bristol Myers. Bristol Myers contacted United Health Care and got them to approve the coverage of the drug!
So don't give up, even if the insurance says they will not cover the drug Bristol Myers will work with your insurance company to get it covered.
Good Luck, JillNEric in OH

Continued good thoughts & prayers for Eric – he has an amazing amount of determination and fight and I am very glad that he will be able to get this drug in time. May he have excellent results!

Hi Jill,
I used to work for a medical insurance company (won't say which one ๐ ) and particularly for big dollar treatments such as Yervoy, often the practice is to deny at first, then approve those that file grievnces, or get a 3rd party to intervene as you did, which ws the right move! This way they don't have to pay for the ones who do not appeal. Sad but true….
