Anyone have any experience with large tumors in abdomen area?  My husband was rushed to the ER last week with the starting of a distended abdomen and other symptoms. He was clear 3 months previous. Very very scary and in the hospital for a week. He is now on Taf/mek.

      Any info would be appreciated.

      Thank you.

Yes. My sister had a fist-sized mass protruding from her abdomen that started on the right side and grew across her body within days. It was very scary to see how quickly this thing made progress and we weren't sure just what organ or body part it was attached to but as she had a mass in the omentum, we believed it was from that. Taf/Mek stopped its progression within the first couple of days and by the end of the first week on that combo, this thing was GONE!!! Those drugs are a "god-send" to those for whom they work – and they worked in her like a miracle!!! I am hoping they work as well for your husband!! Best wishes!!

Thank you so much for responding Barb. My husband had 1 met in his lung back in 2012, 1 met on his hip in 2015 and 1 in his intestine early this year (surgically removed June 1st). This one came on so fast & furious. Scariest thing I have ever experienced. Thought I was going to lose him as it wreaked havoc on all his levels (kidney, red/white blood counts, etc). He was in the hospital for a week. He was on the combo for 4 months this year to shrink the intestinal met so we are hoping this combo does its thing again.

Thank you again and I wish your sister continued success with treatments and ultimately NED forever!

Hello, my husband has 5 huge tumors in his abdomen area. Currently he is taking opdivo/yervoy, going for 3rd infusion tomorrow. So far he has had trouble with one kidney needing a nephrotomy and the other kidney is now not producing as it is being crushed, along with his bladder. He has edema in his legs and a constant stomach pain. We are praying they start shrinking soon to give him some relief. The tumors have not infiltrated any of his organs, blood, lungs, bones or brain. He did use the mek/taflinar which worked fast but not long. Even though he has gone through some unpleasant side effects, he is still able to continue treatments. We were told they would get bigger initially due to the fighting cells penetrating the tumors. Keeping the faith. Prayers for you and your husband.

I never thanked you for your response 'always ready never prepared.'  I hope your husband is doing well.
