Can anyone recommend a good melanoma surgeon.  My surgeon left Duke for a position in Texas.  I'm located in North Carolina and would like to stay in the Mid Atlantic area if possible.  The operation will probably be fairly complex to remove two tumors near my liver.  Thanks for any suggestions.

Brian – Sorry to hear you have to go in for another surgery. My surgeon has actually moved from Wake Forest Baptist Health to Duke… his name is Dr. John Stewart. I would highly recommend him. The bowel resection he did on me went very well – no complications and full recovery. I actually have an upcoming appointment at Duke for scans and will be seeing Dr. Stewart at that time.

Thanks Kevin. Does he specialize in melanoma?

Yes he does. That is how I initially found him.

        Kevin,

Do you have a POC info for his scheduler.  I'm on the phone with the appointment folks and it seems he is so new he's not in their system yet.

        Thanks,

        Brian

Try contacting Phyllis Dalton. She is the melanoma new patient coordinator. Her phone number is 919-660-9671 and her email is phyllis.dalton@duke.edu. I will send her a note too.

Thanks Kevin.  The appointment line was finally able to figure it out.  Was able to schedule an appointment with Dr. Stewart and Dr. Salama on the same day.  Dr. Salama is one of Duke's melanoma specialist.
