I had my 3rd recurrence of melanoma in my left leg this past year. Went through a month of interferon infusions, radiation, and am week 18 of the 48 week self injections. I am so tired, headaches, pin point rash, GI issues, dizziness. Still working 30-36 hours a week. Thinking of quitting injections – has anyone else been through this and made decision to quit early? My oncologists (Humphrey CA Center) know I am considering stopping.

You should certainly have the option to stop now. You've done the high dose and that is what many think is the effective part although most places don't prescribe interferron anymore. With the new drugs out there you should have more options soon. It sounds like you are having a bad time.

We just had a long and very interesting discussion about interferon a couple of weeks ago. Check out the thread "randomized to interferon in clinical trial" at http://www.melanoma.org/find-support/patient-community/mpip-melanoma-patients-information-page/randomized-interferon

3c here too. Did the high-dose, and about 16 weeks of self-injections. Worked throughout the self-injections. Stopped the drug about two months ago. Couldn’t take it anymore. I don’t regret starting interferon, and I don’t regret stopping either. January 17th will be 1-year NED… -
