Somebody needs to stuff a sock (or something more permanent) into all these right wing agitators who constantly whip their wacko legions into a frenzy. A small but significant percentage of extreme right or left wack jobs don't need much of a push to act out their twisted fantasies. Sarah in particular has made many allusions to the use of guns (usually followed by a cutsey wink) .

A small but significant percentage of extreme right or left wack jobs don't need much of a push to act out their twisted fantasies. Sarah in particular has made many allusions to the use of guns (usually followed by a cutsey wink) . These people have gotten rich by pandering to a very negative and hostile group of angry white male losers (my brother in law included). I see that Sarah has pulled the cross hair targets off her campaign web site but her hands are dirty on this. Same for the Ariz tea party candidate that lost. He actually posed for pics during the campaign letting his tea party voters hold his AK47 while spouting 2nd Amendment rights (guns) as potential solutions to political issues. Leadership of all political parties need to insist on an end to this behavior. Vague or symbolic references to guns and violence needs to end before the wacks from both extremes look for revenge. Somewhere out there I bet there is more than one wierdo polishing his gun and dreaming of Sarah or Rush. These things often run in series. JFK, MLK and Bobby for example. This lady from Arizona is somebody who is a credit to women serving in office everywhere. What a shame. And shame on anybody who uses gun rhetoric to juice up their base.

Mental illness is not Right or Left Wing….Watch TV, .any "crime' show….it's explicit. Check out the video games our kids are playing…body counts are the objective. We have desensitized an entire generation. If a mentally ill person or a criminal wants to obtain a weapon and commit a crime…..they will.
I do't know the answer….but I do know that many have made tons of money through the media 'selling' violence. … and we 'bought' and brought it into our homes on a schedules basis…..via any of the major networks and local affiliates. Shame.

If anyone didn't know that Angle calling for "second amendment remedies" ( or putting Giggler in the cross hairs of a gun-sight like Palin) could lead to violence they probably need to be watched ! Crazy knows no one party, that's true, but exploiting the "crazies" shouldn't get a pass-anymore ( ever!)
Most people with mental issues are not murderers…he wasn't JUST a sufferer of mental illness…he was a member of the KKK ( a different kind of crazy) , involved with right-wing survivalists ( yet another type of crazy) and was very anti-government- a radical right-wing dreamboat. You should be extra cautious and responsible when your audience is comprised of these types of groups. These over the top revolt messages seem like a desperate free-for-all and common sense has gone out the window. It's dangerous and I don't understand how any reasonable/sane person can defend/support/excuse away any of it. Respectable people-especially those in postions of authority-shouldn't advise intimidating with guns or shooting anyone in the head –an ideal candidate advocates voting people out of office (so don't vote for the other kind!)
I agree with your editorial, Bill 🙂 … but Jon Stewart said it best:
"You can't outsmart crazy…you don't know what a troubled mind will be caught on…I think it's important to watch political rhetoric…if for no other reason than to draw a better distinction between the manifestos of paranoid madmen and what passes for acceptable political and pundit speak.
It would be really nice if the ramblings of crazy people didn't in any way resemble how we actually talk to each other on TV . Let's at least make troubled individuals easier to spot.To see such good people hurt… if there is any real solace in this—I think it's that…for all the hyperbole and vitriol that have become a part of our political process when the reality of that rhetoric/when the actions match the disturbed nature of words– we haven't lost our capitcy to be horrified. Let's hope we never do…maybe this will help us to match our rhetoric with reality more often?Someone or something will shatter our world again, wouldn't it be a shame if we didn't take this moment to make sure the world we are creating now is better than the one we previously lost." -

On controlling rhetoric… Many people use strong euphemisms:
“If they bring a knife to the fight, we bring a gun”
Barack Obama, 2008, in speaking of how to deal with negative attack ads.
Just sayin'.

.….You must be a Fox viewer, I see they're excusing the Right's current (and past years) of calls for violence with this Obama sentence from a fundraiser two years ago. The difference between this misstep and the Right's current behavior was Obama immediately recognizing the danger and not continuing to use these types of messages to rally his supporters.
In right-wing bizzaro-ville …one, two year old, 12 word sentence counters years of DAILY violent messages and images from right wing media and politicians. If people believe this sentence is equal to the barrage of hatred we've experienced- there is no hope they will come to their senses and reject the continuing, outrageous behaviors that breed violence. This one, old sentence is the reason for the Right's continued support of irresponsible rhetoric- this one sentence is what legitimizes the idea of violence in the minds of the clearly insane ? No. This justification is a pathetic attempt to take the spotlight off the pattern of behavior that's dangerous and puts everyone, including our children, at risk. Politics should not kill our children, elected representatives should not align their party theory with lunatic fringes such as the KKK and responsible adults should NOT legitimize the continual call for violence. Pathetic.

Sarah should be ashamed. She has used gun metaphors so often it has become the dominate aspect of her persona. Certainly not the kind of persona to be taken by a serious and thoughtful political leader. She really needs to shut her pie hole.

Now now, Bill. I WANT Sarah to run in 2012. It's all hunkydory now…you must not have understood …Sarah explained it all away on Facebook. Something about Jews killing Christian children to make Passover matzoh and arming yourself only means VOTE, silly. That Sarah is kitschy cute AND so funny! I checked my Pennsylvania AND my New Jersey dictionaries but a gun as a vote doesn't appear…must be how they say it in Alaska.
I think Sarah would make a fine candidate in 2012. I'd like her to run with John Boehner and I"ve even designed a campaign button just for them! They make such a cute couple- you get it all with that duo! (Let's hope my picture appears this time) :
