      Greetings Melahomies!

Just got my scan report and everything is "normal" and my brain is unremarkable!  I love it and sure don't take it for granted!  It has been one heck of a year, so taking a long stop in NERD-land is very welcomed.

I'm also recovering from total knee replacement surgery.  Just let me say WOW!  I am so glad I did this! My surgery knee feels better now after surgery than it did before surgery.  Yea, I was in a lot of pain.  So I'm sitting in my "ugly chair" with my ice on my knee (ice is my best friend right now)  half deciding if I want to get up and take a walk.  I think I'll sit here for a little while longer…

Anyway, just wanted to share the good news.

      Fight on friends!

      Peace!

      Julie

              Julie,

So glad to hear the great news! In this zone, it's actually wonderful to hear that your "brain is unremarkable." Amen!

Knee surgery is no Mediterranean cruise. My husband's partial knee replacement was the most painful thing he's ever endured other than the spinal fusion with rods and screws some 20 years ago, when they didn't do it as well. I hope you're sleeping okay. That's hard after knee surgery.

              Congrats on these health milestones!

Right on Julie! Great to hear your doing well. Going soon to see Troum for some more cortisone for elbow and knee. Who did surgery on your knee? Thank's for the good news!

                Best, Paul

Hi Paul, glad to hear you're seeing Traum.  Are the cortisone shots working?  Sure hope so! Joint pain is no bueno!

I went to Hoag Orthopedic Institute for the total knee replacement surgery.  Dr Tim Gibson was my surgeon.  HOI is close – sort of (I think I'm half way between them and St. John) and they have an excellent joint program.  They're a joint factory and this is what I was told to look out for 1) surgeon who does tons of these surgeries (lots and lots of experince) and 2) a hospital that is organized around joints.  HOI worked for me.

When are you thinking of getting your knee done?  I sure don't regret it – even while I'm sitting on my backside in my ugly chair and in a tad bit of pain.  What are you thinking?

Trust all is well with you!

Hi Julie, The shots seem to work better on the smaller joints (ankles, elbows) not so much on knees though. Just having Dr. Troum drain them helps immensely! Have had many tears (Meniscus) repaired in both knees. Lot's of boat work and gardening as an occupation has done them in.

The joint factories are probably the way to go. If the PD-1 continues to subside, I will hobble around as long as I can.

Still Hanging out with NED and cut Rockstar visits to every three months (scans every 6mo.) Just going with the flow!

                      Best, Paul

This is great news!  So glad you're still in NEDLand!!  And as much as I love the Rock star, seeing him every 3 months is great!  I'm currently on the 3 month plan, too.

I only had the shots in my knees and back.  They worked great for the back, but not so much for the knees.  Knee Doc said my knees were a 10 on the 1-10 completely crap scale  (I am an overachiever!).  i figured that they weren't going to get any better, so waiting wasn't a good option.

Trust the flow is all going your way!

                        Peace!

Thank you for making my husband (new patient) and me (old wife) laugh, and great about NED! I read your post to him. That evening we got the pathology report for his pre-study brain MRI and he said, "So I'm unremarkable too."
