Hi everyone.  New here and thought that this would be a great place to find a new doctor.  I will be moving to the Chicago area and need a new Derm and Oncolgist.  I planning the move soon and want to schedule appointments …….. I know the wait can be long for new patients.

      Thanks everyone.

          Ranisa,

I assume you are looking for  a Melanoma Specialist Oncologist.

          The Top ones are:

Dr. Howard Kaufmann – Rush – Also a Surgical Oncologist and Head of their entire Cancer group.

Dr. Thomjas Gajewski – University of Chicago

Dr. Jon Richards – Oncology Specialists – Niles office and Park ridge office.

There are other Melanoma specialists out of Loyola, Evanston/Northshore hospital and a few others depending on what part of town you are planing on moving.Dr.Bruce Brockstein at Evanston Northshore (Phone 847-570-2515) and Dr.Joseph Clark at Loyola (phone 708-327-3236).

Depending on what you need, you may want to check out the clinical trials the Dr. participates in.

I dont have a dermatologist to recommend.  My oncologist is supposed to have one on staff, but I have not seen them yet.  Am scheduled to get a dermatological review in a few weeks.

Let me know what you decide.  You can scan the boards to see comments that other patients have had on some of the above doctors.

Thanks for your help Bill.  I think that I am going to shoot for the guy at Rush.  It really does end up depending on my ins. They also have a dermatologist that specializes in melonma at Rush.  Also some melonma program that sounds good.  Have you gone there?

I have not seen any of the Melanoma Doctors at Rush, but Dr. kaufmann is supposed to e a well respected Melanoma Specialist.

He is on the top of my list when I need to get a second opinion.

Lori and Will were seeing Dr. kaufmann.  She spoke very highly of him.

Good Luck and keep us posted.Bill

I am making an appointment to see him.  I was told that I need to see a derm every 6 months and a oncologist ever year.  With moving I think that it is important to get in right away just in case something pops up I wont be considered a new patient.  Thanks so much for the names.  I also seeing Dr. Arthur Rhodes in the derm department there.  He deals with melonoma and something about a photo check…Photographic Surveillance .  I was pretty interested in it.  I am in the clear.    I haven't posted my story on here.  I think I will.
