I am new to this site was told today when I went after follow up from sugery that my melanoma is stage 2b and that its the agressive kind my brother Joe Wray passed away from same kind in 2005 and i'm lost on a few matters like is there treatment that I should look at to help it stay away and since it runs in the family should I push for perventive treatments no matter what I have talked to many who say just go to doctor every 3 months and watch for new groth but with my brothers it was so fast he was gone with in 2 years but his was stage 3 when found any input any one could give that would be helpful would be wonderful .
Thank you in advance
lisa

Hi Lisa,
Sorry you had to join us… I know this is a scary time for you and your family but you couldn't have turned to a better place than the MPIP community to get advice and patient stories relative to your case. Do you have your pathology report? If so, you could post it on here to help us get a better understanding of your case. There are many smart and educated people on this board who are willing to help you and give advice.
Take care for now,
Samuel

Sorry for the news.
Ok well i was stage 2a in July 2012. Had it cut out…good margins and everything was removed. At 2a there is no treatment…so we watched and waited…in July 2013 I noticed lumps, tested to be melanoma in nodes. I just had surgery….I'm stage 3b now.
So if the surgery went well and everything was gone…and
if they tell you you are a late stage 2 and depending on what your pathology reads if the doctors discuss adjuvant continued treatment I would consider it in your case.
and if they don't bring it up ask about it.
at stage 2b you can pretty much google Melanoma 2b treatment and it will tell you your otions…
probably
watch and wait
or
interferon
