The lymph node mapping is done from a primary site only.  Trying to find the pathway to the lymph nodes.  Once it is already in your lungs, the pathway no longer matters.  I'm not stage IV but I don't see any reason any of that would be done.  I suspect he's just going to "grab" likely suspects.

I had a similar surgery in April after becoming stage 4. No mapping. Surgeon removed the tumor plus 20 lymph nodes. Mine was open thoracotomy, not VATS so you should hopefully have a somewhat easier recovery. I was told before, during and after the surgery to MOVE and COUGH. Like, all the time I was forcing the walking and coughing to build strength and prevent pneumonia. You can do this! Best wishes..

Hi MichelleRHG, thanks for your reply, ya know, i “ReRead” your post & caught a “Key” area to what you discribed as ” “During” The Surgery, you where told to Cough to strengthen your lungs but “During” Surgery? Wernt you out like a light? Or did you do a Local Anesthesia? Or did you miss spoke? Lol…

Thank guys, i figured it would be just a “Grab & Go” situation, and yes, it makes sense in order to Map, they inject into a primary wich i remember far to well, twice actually back in the days (my stage 3b days) when it was just in my left leg, the 1st one was HellFire! That stuff burned soooo bad..
Anyways, good, thanks for easing my mind..

As others have said, Mike…NOPE. No mapping required.  But, I will have all fingers and toes crossed that things go as well and easily as possible on the 12th and that you have a speedy recovery as you kick melanoma to the curb!!!   Yours, celeste

Hi Mike!  Haven't had lung surgery so I can't say but I wanted to wish you well. I hope the surgery and the recovery go well.  Will be thinking of you.
