i had surgery 2ish weeks ago on neck. surgeon removed 5 of 6 lumps in neck. dr. kudchadkar, my new “bestie” oncologist/ mel specialist at Emory said 6th one needed to come out. got it out yesterday & surgeon at Emory said it was pigmented & appeared to be melanoma. when i asked my local surgeon why he did not remove it, he said he didn’t think it was mel when he felt of it. so much for his thinking. also, my local oncologist ( but not going back to him!) said that the path report from the botched biopsy ( see former post) indicated that it was not melanoma. i have since received that path report and it did not indicate that! this is why we all need to see mel specialists! anyhoo, it’s out now. starting radiation in about 3 weeks. i have decided to get all my treatments there in atlanta now. luckily, our daughter lives there. keep up the fight, my friends!

So sorry for ALL of that, but so glad you are getting appropriate care now, Cindy! It is a shame, but you are correct!! Seeing an oncologist who specializes in melanoma is often an essential step in beating this disease. I hope you are on the path to recovery now!!! I wish you my best. Celeste

Cindy Lou, so sorry it turned out to be melanoma, but so happy you are going to Emory in Atlanta. Given the evidence on this board and the experience I’m seeing with my cousin, the single biggest variable in this fight is going to a good melanoma specialist as Celeste said! Good luck Cindy Lou, I’ll be in Atlanta over XMAS, will be thinking about you and really glad you’ll be with your daughter.
