I have Acral subungual melanoma under the toenail in 2004. After surgery I was NED until last year when it appeared in two lymph nodes. I now have inoperable mets in my lungs. I am not BRAF mutant and now being tested for the C-KIT mutation. What is the more effective… Ipilimumab or imatinib? Thanks.

You can't really compare the two drugs because they are not used on the same population.  To use Gleevec (imatinib), you must have the C-Kit mutation.  Look for posts by JerryFromFauq as he is doing this regimen.  Gleevec is not effective if you do not have this mutation.  Otherwise, you could consider Yervoy (Ipilimumab).  There are many posts on this site of people on that treatment.  Many people with cutaneous melanoma are on Yervoy and there is clinical trial data available to show its success rates.

          Best wishes,

May I ask what stage (or how long into) your melanoma was when treated?
