…at my appointment at the Angeles Clinic. Everyone said the same thing: He is definitely still with the clinic, and he is on "indefinite leave." I was told to still consider him my physician of record.
The appointment marked the end of my 8 weeks on the GSK BRAF/MEK trial (I was randomized to the most amount of both drugs). I am very happy with the results of the latest scans: They can't find any trace of the sub-Qs, and all the bone mets appear to be smaller!

I'm also happy that the side effects have abated. No more fevers or chills for the last 3 weeks. Perhaps just some fatigue now and then. My nurse told me that taking the BRAF and MEK together seems to lessen the effects of the dugs taken by themselves.
Best wishes,
Harry

Hi Harry,
My father in law was just diagnosed with Stage 4 melanoma and we had chosen Dr. ODay at the Angeles clinic as our doctor- however I just saw your post and was unaware that he was on leave. Is there another doctor you see at the clinic instead of Dr. ODay? Do you feel comfortable with them or would you recommend we find another clinic? Thanks in advance for your response- we are just at the beginning of trying to make a decision on a doctor and since Dr O Day was our first choice I am just a little concerned
Thanks
Julie

I was told that Dr. O'Day should be returning – but there was no return date they would share. The last 3 times I was seen by Dr. Hamid, who has a cheerful disposition and seems to know his stuff. I'm comfortable with things as they are since I am well into the trial.
But of course I did get to see Dr. O'Day a couple of times, and I made the decision to enter the trial in consultation with him. The reason I went to the Angeles Clinic initially was to see Dr. O'Day – I first saw him over 11 years ago and was very impressed with him.
There are also other Drs. there, but I can't tell you anything about them. Good luck with whatever decisions you make.
Best wishes,
Harry

Harry
I am so glad that things are going well – I was just thinking about you. How was your cruise?

Hi Dawn,
The cruise was great! No rain to interfere with shore activities – a rarity on Alaska cruises. But there were lots of gnats! Beautiful scenery.
Best wishes,
Harry

Hi Harry,
Thanks for posting.
What side effects did you have on GSK braf/mek pills. Do you know how long you will have to take the pills.
Hope you become NED quickly.

Thanks Mary! I had fevers and chills at week 4, but these have since abated. Nothing much else, perhaps some mild ongoing fatigue.
Best wishes,
Harry
