Hi everyone! I’m new. No cancer that we know of. I’m really worried though. Even if it’s not cancer but would need to be removed or heavy duty meds!I had a brain MRI recently. Doctor says pituitary is asymmetrically enlarged. She has requested my insurance to take a closer look with another MRI soon. And I will see an endocrinologist soon too.
She said it could explain my “visual snow” and breastfeeding lactation issues. She said or it can not be related and may not cause any issues to worry about. Well duh I’m worrying before results!
She said some people have an enlarged pituitary for decades, and never need a surgery or medicine. But said if it’s too big (as in pushing on surrounding structures) then it will have to surgically worked on or may benefit from some medicine. Also of course if the issue is just hormonal with the size large but doable, then maybe just use medicine!
What she couldn’t tell me was what percentage of people with a large pituitary gland or partially large, end up just fine not needing anything cut open or no medicine.
If anyone knows how I can look this up or has personalexperience. Please let me know. Thank you!

Hi Anonymous, im sorry to hear you have some Pituitary issues, as you may have learned here at MRF, most ( if not all) of us here have Melanoma and a good portionvof us have or “Have Had” Endocrinological problems, mostly due to side effects of Immunal, chemo, targeted, and or any another Bio type Therapies, like myself , my Pituitary doesnt produce Cortisol anylonger on its own without the help of Hydrocortisones…Hopefully you havnt any underlining issues that are of a cancer concern! Best of Luck!
