Hello my friends, As you know, my friend Mari is Fighting Malignant melanoma with mts in liver and bones. The last Pet Scan showed 5 stable mts in liver, 3 stable mts on bones and one increased mts in liver (on the last pets it was 3.1 sm, now 4.1) – after 5 infusion of Keitryda. Doctor said that Keytruda worked partially and as the analyses said Cd-117 positive in tumors, Doctor decided to continue treatment with Gleevec (Imatinib), once per day, 400 mg, for two months and check-up after two months. Is there any results, researches, private experience about this case, about this mutation? Can you help us? we are a bit dissapointed…
thank you in advace
FriendofMari

Hi Friend of Mari –
I presently have Stage IV mets in both lungs, and I have been on Gleevec (400 mg/day) for almost 3 years. I have cKit mutation with exon 11. Imatinib initially slowed and even reduced several of my tumors. Note – my cancer was caught somewhat early and the tumors have been slow growing. Last year, however, I had two of the larger tumors ablated (radiofrequency ablation surgery) and they have not returned.
You can visit the Novartis website regarding Gleevec and search the Internet for more recent data on Gleevec and melanoma. I'll see if I can dig up some of the old data I found from 2 – 3 years ago.
Take care.

Thank you so much Dear kwb, your response is very important for us, Wish you all the best <3
We look to this treatment a bit sceptically, Mari thinks that after immunotherapy it won't be effective, But I donT think so, I think, everything will be fine…
Thx a loT again
