Last Thursday was my 4th ipi infusion. Last night I woke up in the middle of the night with the craziest itching ever. Benadryl took care of it. This afternoon, the itch has returned and it feels weird. It feels like I'm getting goose bumps and I feel a bit chilled and then the itching happens (mostly on my scalp, arms and back). I have very small non coloured bumps on my arms and back. Has anyone experienced this? I know the itch is normal as I've had itchy, dry skin since the 2nd infusion, but now it's getting worse.

Hi, Lisa
I started getting the itchy bumps after my first infusion. Had my second today, so I am stocking up on Benadryl and Gold Bond Maximum Relief. It has the same active ingredient as Sarna but is much less expensive. I'm not looking forward to scalp itches since I have itchy scars on my scalp. Anyway, good luck with the itches and response from the Yervoy!

As annoying as the rash is, Lisa…think of what it means: It means your system is stimulated. Hopefully this will mean good things for you.
Don just took his 1st infusion on Friday, so it's too early for any side effects, but we were told that both rash and/or itching is relatively common. I feel for you, though…
I hope it gets better for you soon!Michelle, wife of Don

Hi Michelle,
Thanks Michelle. It's a good thing my system is activated and causing reactions. Having a horrible itch is tolerable in the grand scheme of things – just annoying and feels like I'm having a bad allergic reaction.
I'm hoping for good things for Don and that ipi will help boost his immune system. Even though his previous treatment didn't work, perhaps this is the one that will. At each blood test, I highly recommend asking for his Absolute Lymphocyte count. This is a marker that actually indicates whether his immune system is working it's magic.
Wishing you and Don a successful outcome.

Hi Lisa,
I had horrible rash/itch on ipi, now I have it again from the IL-2, but that's a different story.
When I was on Ipi, my doctor gave me a prescription med. called Atarax (gen. is Hydroxyzine.) I take 50 mg. every 6 hours and it does help. That's also what the gave me when I was in the hospital for IL-2.
Hope this helps.

Hi Lisa,
My father also has horrible itchiness after his second dose about a week ago. He tried Benadryl but that didnt seem to work for him. His doctor also prescribed Atarax but didnt want him to use it too much since it may cause other side effects and due to his age. Sarna anti-itch lotion seems to help. He has some rash and two blisters around his lesions on his leg. I wonder your bumps are blisters forming? I do hope that all this itchiness, rashes, bumps, blisters are all signs that Yervoy is working for everyone. Good luck with your upcoming scans and best wishes.
