Can melanoma metastisize to scrotum?

My husband is a stage IV 13 year survivor.  His story is complicated, as he never received adjuvant therapy due to a second diagnosis of sarcoidosis of the lungs. Anyway, all has been well and though he is short of breath lately, I just noticed two very dark red/purple "blood blister" type spots on the underside of his scrotum. Is this something else, or could it be melanoma again? Has anyone else experienced getting mets so far out from the primary diagnosis? Is this even possible?

of course it could be something else, and it could also be melaoma. Melanoma CAN indeed metastize to the scrotum or anywhere else. You don't mention where his original melanoma was (the lungs?)but distance is no hinderance to it. But 13 yrs is a good long time out, so it could be something else entirely.

Have his doctor look at this.

      good luck!

Thank you for the quick response. His original site was on the back left side of trunk (left kidney area); SNB showed mets to lymph nodes in left axcillary and were surgically removed.  Last week, before I noticed these new spots,  I made him see a dermatologist who, even though aware of his medical history, gave my husband only a cursory body check. We were not happy. I will have him see his former dermatologist, though he is a 3 hour drive away. Thank you.

Melanoma is a sneaky little bastard. It can definitely go anywhere. Mine went to my uterus, fallopian tubes and last year my thyroid!

After 13 years it could be nothing but I've heard of melanoma returning after a much longer reprieve! I'm hoping it's not melanoma for your husband and something far less serious!

Melanoma can spread anywhere it wants to, but these blood blisters may not be in relation to melanoma at all.  There are many reasons for blood blisters and some of these reasons are common on the scrotum area. However, since your husband has a history of melanoma, it's a good idea to get them tested to know for sure.

It would be great if you could fill out your husbands profile info and history. The fact that he is a 14 year survivor of Stage 4 is amazing and gives us all hope!

        Best of luck to you.
