I think it depends on the trial and the drug company involved. I am currently on a trial and I travel about 300 miles every other week for a trial. I get a stipend from the drug company for every treatment day. It doesn't cover all of my costs, but is a flat amount per day. But, I don't think that is always the case. So, I would ask the treatment location for information.

I know the NIH offers to pay mileage if you live so far away or they will pay for a plane ticket if its pretty far….unless you are in a remote state, you can find charity orgs that help with airline

I'm really interested in the PLX4032, I'll have to find it but I think it's in Maryland!  I'll keep you posted!  Maybe we could travel together?  Where are you on the west coast?

        I'm in Reno, NV.

        Denise,

There is a Hoffman-La Roche trial opening soon that has the PLX4032 drug in it (otherwise known as RO18426). One of the sites is in Aurora, Colorado:

        http://www.clinicaltrials.gov/ct2/show/NCT01271803?term=melanoma+BRAF&rank=11

Maybe this won't be so bad for you to travel?

Haven’t looked into plx4032 trials much since I don’t have the mutation.

But here’s one where at least it’s a little closer –west coast– if the info is up to date:
