Hello Julie,
I am also a stage I patiënt, and I understand your feelings. I also felt quilty being worried and scared- being a stage I- after reading stories here of people in much worse conditions. But when you are early diagnosed, YOU ARE scared and worried and you go looking for answers. This is a great website, which contains a lot of information and people who understand the disease. I was diagnosed in august 2010, and I am still OK after treatment. I know it is only 1.5 year, but my main message to you is that the scared feelings slowly fade away. Just give it a little time. You keep alert to your body, but I don't think about it every day anymore. This was very different in the beginning, when melanoma really controlled my life. And it is true what here was written before: when we still have the possibility to live our lives without having to coop with it every day, it should be a blessing and we should enjoy life. I wish you, and especially everyone here who is fighting a couragious fight, all my best wishes and many years to come!

Hi Lisa,
hoping all the best for the MRI results! We all know how stressful the waiting is for those kind of results…
But sometimes it isn't what it seems. After my mel diagnosis, I had a total body scan and it showed a 2 x 3 tumor in my liver. De liver onc specialist at a university clinic in my country (Belgium) said all odds were against me and he suspected over 90% chance it was a spread of the melanoma.
He decided to do a special MRI on the surface of my liver to have a close look and to see if there were more spots which were yet too small to see on a PET/MRI. He found that the tumor was a benign ademona and could remove it completely. Those day's you indeed go from hell to heaven…
I hope you can experience the same!

Michelle,
I hardly know your story since I am very new to this community.
But I read you were a great caretaker and Don faught a brave battle, that he unfortunately didn't win.
I believe you both did evertything possible, please find comfort in this fact.
I am glad Don is without pain now, and I hope you and your children can find help in God and everyone who is supporting, caring and loving you these days.
So sorry for your loss,
Marleen
