Bio

I had my first child in June 2009 and while I was pregnant I noticed a large bump on my calf that had started out small grow bigger and bigger. I brought it to my PCP attention and she told me it was a ‘blood vessel’. Never got referred out to a dermatologist. This spot grew throughout my pregnancy, and three months after my son was born I requested my PCP remove the spot and send it for testing. I had just returned to work from 12 weeks of maternity leave when I got a call from my PCP stating my spot was Melanoma. I was referred for a centinal node biopsy with one node coming back positive. I was staged at 3b. I had all the lymph nodes they could find (about 12-16) removed from my right groin and after recovering from this, started four weeks of high dose interferon five days a week at Dana Farber in NH. Once I completed this, I started shots from home of Interferon 3x a week. I successfully completed this treatment after 9 months in October 2010.
