It is puzzling to me to read a pathology report that does not address the depth of the lesion.  The depth of the melanoma is alwasy the most important marker, I have assumed, over the lateral margins, although of course it is important to get those margins too.

As you say, Mohs is not recommended for mel because it does not remove enough margin of skin.

I agree that a consult with a melanoma specialist is in order.  It sounds like your hospital is not quite equipped to handle anything more than a superficial or thin melanoma.

First take a deep breath.  I am sorry about your dad.  I am not aas familiar with the treatment for Stage IV so I will leave that to other posters.

But as far as you, mel in situ is 100% curable by removal!  I know it's hard, but try to relax and know that by regularly checking your skin, you will now be in a better position to notice any changes.  Only 8% of all patients have another new primary, so the stats are on your side.

I have to disagree with the person who urged you to "get a scan."  First of all, no doctor is going to recommend a scan for a Stage 0 patient.  PET scans are not without risk, and the benefit to you is dubious.  They only catch larger (over 1cm) growths, and there would be a chance of false positives results, when the odds are overwhelmingly in your favor.

The best thing you can do is be vigilant and get your regular derm checks. IF the anxiety is starting to take over, perhaps look into talking to a counselor of some sort who can help you through this rough patch.  You have a lot going on with an ill father and a new baby, so I would pursue some support that way as a first avenue.

I have just read thru the links you posted.  I find that quack-science.  You need more than iodine to cure cancer.  It is insulting to people fighting the cancer fight to declare that "cancer is curable" in a blanket statement like that, and if they are not using your bogus methods then they will lose their fight.

Among other things, the idea that vaccines cause autism has been overhwelmingly debunked, time and time again.

I truly hope your lesion is not malignant, for your sake.

My opinion?   My opinion. . . is that you should see a dermatologist sooner rather than later.  No one, not even a world-renown pathologist, can diagnose mel from a photo or visual inspection.

Let's assume the worst, that it is melanoma.  Melanoma exists below the epidermis – how do you know how deep it is?  How do you know it is not spreading?

Why on earth would you NOT want to excise it??

With melanoma, time is of the essence.  Hopefully it is just a thin lesion and removal in a derm's office is all that will be needed.  Why would you not take the time to do this?

WHy do you think your "treatment" is worth trying?  The melanoma community has great minds working on treatments/vaccines/cures for years – if your simple solution worked, I am sure they would have stumbled upon it already.

I hope I am not offending you, but please get your mole checked out.  Read some of the stories on here to see how quickly things can change.
