My wife underwent a TIL/ACT at NIH / NCI (currently NED).  They have a few protocols to consider including one with vemruafenib.  However, if your wife progresses, they would probably recommend she just discontinue taking it and start the TIL process.  It is also unlikely that after undergoing TIL that she couldn’t take other treatments.  I know people who failed TIL and went on to try Ipi or PD-1.

I would recommend anybody considering TIL to do it at NCI and you can absolutely call their referral line and ask these questions now – 866-820-4505.  June Kryk and Linda Williams are two of the referral nurses that can answer these types of questions.

Yes.  My wife went through a TIL treatment at NCI that did not include IL-2 at the end.  Her cells were, however, genetically engineered to express IL-12 so it was a bit different.  That trial closed because unfortunately some patients had very severe side effects (fortunately not my wife).   Her doctors at NCI have told us there are trials underway without the IL-2 at the end of the treatment.  Most TIL treatment options do not include radiation, and those that do usually only half of the patients are receiving it so I wouldn’t worry about that.  My wife is over a year NED so it has certainly worked for her so far.  You can read about her experience at http://www.melanomamom.com.  Where are you considering the TIL treatment?

                    Hi Melissa,

I'm sorry to see no one responded with experience.  Any update on your husband?  My wife is starting the til study this Thursday (surgery stage to remove a tumor).

                    Jeff
