Lauri- I've been thinking about you since you first posted about your recent scans. We went through interferon at the same time, and I'm coming up on my routine scans this week. I'm glad to hear the bone scan was ordered and I will be praying for a good outcome. I don't have any advice about the rib pain, but just wanted you to know that you were in my thoughts!!

I feel for you! I have four children 11,4,21/2 and 16 months. My sister in law set up the lotsahelping hands site for us and it was a huge help. We had dinners 2 nights a week and help with other activities as well. It was also a great way for me to keep people updated with my progress during my interferon year. It was really hard for me to accept the help, but I never could have managed it all alone. I finally realized that if I accepted the help, I would have more time to enjoy the important things in my life, especially my kiddos.  also highly reccomend the book Cereal for Dinner- mom's going through illness.  I know you probably have no time at all for a book, but it's a quick read and will make a huge impact!

                          You'll be in my prayers,

                          Michelle

6 units is still a kick in the butt! I started in January at 36 units, it was cut to 18 after having problems like you have with bloodwork. It was cut in half again, so I was down to 9 and just last week she cut it to 6. I asked my onc the very same question, and she said it was definitely still a big enough dose to continue and would still be a kick in the butt! I have felt a ton better with the lower dose, but still tired and have horrible headaches. With the dose reductions, I've noticed that I feel good for about a month after the reduction, then my body gets used to that dose and the side effects come back in full force. Your body will tell you when it's time to quit. Give it everything you've got, and when the time comes to stop the treatment, then that's what you do…knowing you gave it your best.

                                Take care,

                                Michelle

Hey there! I had a similar experience a couple of months ago and my doc prescribed an anti-deppressant, which has helped with the moodiness, but there are still days that I will snap at the kids and my husband and feel like my blood is boiling!!! It sucks and I'm sorry you are going throught it.Sometimes I think it happens because I'm so exhausted….are you getting enough rest? I know you said you haven't seen the doc this month, but it might be worthwhile to discuss a dose reduction. I've had two reductions in eight months, and each time, it helps lessen the side effects. I've also taken "breaks" from treatment per docs orders for bloodwork issues….but every time I have, it has made it 10 times worse starting back up again! It always feels like the very first week of treatment with the shakes, fever, body aches etc.

You've done so well making it as far as you have! Only you can decide if you've had enough. Believe me, I have asked myself the same question MANY of times. I'm available if you need a listening ear!
