I did a week of the low dose, realised the side effects were significant, reviewed the literature and chose to stop it.

I've had no such unexplained fever-like symptoms since ceasing the inteferon.

I had the armpit clearance done after finding an egg sized tumor in my armpit.. and a primary tumor on my forearm (angry red patch, not at all classic melanoma).. pathology says the primary tumor was recessing.

The armpit clearance was aggressive 37 nodes removed. 1 positive. I recovered well. I have slightly reduced movement in my arm (and with stretching I think I could get rid of that). I have lost all sensation in my armpit and the back of arm above the elbow. I did sufffer some lymphadema early on but that has cleared as well. I dont sweat in that armpit anymore.

I didn't hesitate to get that surgery, the downside has been minimal.

I felt terrible in the evenings (infusions were mid afternoon). Aches all over, feverish.. I had a lot of trouble sleeping and ended up on Temazepam to sleep. The day after each infusion I felt like I had a hangover and was very very tired. I worked through the first two weeks of the treatment and then had the last two weeks off of work.

I found hot showers were the best and would spend as long as I could in the shower in the evening.

I chose not to go onto the 12month low dose interferon after the high dose treatment.. I tried it for a week and it seemed as bad as the High dose treatment and the evidence for its efficacy seemed quite poor.
