Has anyone used an antibiotic with Zelboraf?  I was recently ill and needed an antibiotic. Evidently, with zelboraf there are many that are counterindicated>>>>>due to arrythemias of the heart or qt lenght. I ended up on doxycline…..it worked but I was partially deaf while I used it

        Mary,
I have used Z Pack (Azithromycin sp?) twice in my 40 months on Zelboraf with no problems.

Hi Mary, My husband has been on Z for just over a month and was recently prescribed antibiotics for pneumonia.  The ER doc prescribed Avalox but we learned a few days later from his oncologist at Sloan Kettering that this negatively interacts with Z (heart issues, as you suggest).  As a result, he was put on a combination of azithromycin and something else, which I can't remember.  Let me know if you'd like the name, and I can find out.

              Best,

              Donna

I was on antibiotics at least once while on Zelboraf and had no problems. I think it was Keflex, but am not certain of that…

I have checked this sight also for info:.   http://www.drugs.com/drug-interactions/vemurafenib,zelboraf.html

I seem to have problems with interactions…I had to stop caffeine due to the increase in caffeine absorption>>Palpitations, they stopped as soon as I went to decaff.  I also have some arythemias (sp) , which are checked monthly.  So far the great benefits of Z have been well worth it. Best wishes
