Oh well. At least it confirms my original suspicion that it probably wasn’t worth taking the time to post. I should always listen to that little man.

THIS is called progress. All of the social messages from the past, including the patients who came before and contributed to this community before they passed, have been lost. There is no archive for the Off-Topic board and that is the most offensive to me.  Very sad, to have lost access to the memories and personalities of our loved ones. But, hey, we’ve got smileys now , isn’t that enough? Modern and impersonal.

Impersonal, yes.  Modern?  No.  They couldn’t have fucked this project up more.  Did you notice that little link where you can add your thoughts and make suggestions about the new look?  Where’s the *eat shit* icon?

I think it was created this way to keep the threads and replies visible. I’m not aware of what is available out there to modernize, but I believe this was a compromise.

Has there ever been an archive for the Off-Topic board!?

Not per se, but there was a user friendly SEARCH function that enabled a person to pull up past posts easily. You could also use the "show all posts by" function. I have been unable to view any targeted posts from the distant past.

Looks like the data is still there, for example:

        http://community.melanoma.org/cgi-bin/mpip/dbforum.pl?db=ot_bb&getAuthor=Carver

"Just" edit the author at the end of the URL. Use "%20" for space.

I’m not sure what use "%20" for space means…

For user names with spaces in them. For example:

        http://community.melanoma.org/cgi-bin/mpip/dbforum.pl?db=ot_bb&getAuthor=Charlie%20S

         community.melanoma.org/cgi-bin/mpip/dbforum.pl?db=ot_bb&getAuthor=Charlie%20S

Geez why did you have to pick me for showing old OTBB threads. Bizarre rememebering how much I used to post on the otbb not to mention the main board. I’ve been on a roll today too trying to get the hang of the new menthods now that it has gone live but seeing ALL those old posts with me as the author, and knowing that was just the OTBB ones is going to make me careful about jumping back in so much.

PS I meant to put that reply under the first link with my posts not the one under Charlie’s posts.

Sorry, I didn’t intend to expose your past, specifically  Your name was just one of the first user names that crossed my mind.

Maybe they should add an option for the new board: "Don’t make my history of posts available." or something like that.

here;s a link to the archive for the off topic board.  select search on the top tab and you can access the off topic archive. (UNTIL they take that away from us also)

C’mon, I know it’s you.  I’m just waiting to see how long it takes Ole Bill to figure this out.  Marie M is a quitter.  She is never coming back.  Worse than Barbie Girl.
