    Friend recently diagnosed w stage 3 , depth is 2.1.   Thankfully PET scan and Ct came back negative earlier this week. Friend is self employed mother w NO INsurance!!

    know they are million factors – but trying to get even very rough range of potential surgery costs to remove. 8k?, 40k…?   

     

    Fundraising efforts underway but would be helpful to get even generalized idea of what surgery alone will be. And no one will prove.  Again- know million factors…but any guess even is appreciated. Thanks.

      Can't remember the excact cost's but around 25k  seems to come to mind when all done. All politics and ideals aside, Why hasn't she signed up for insurance under the Afordable Care Act? I believe life and health to supercede any politics.

      Have your friend see if there is any way for her to get insurance now.  (It's terrible that she has none considering that it is now available to everyone.)  The state she lives in may be able to enroll her and she should talk to an insurance broker as they may be able to figure something out for her. 

      As to costs they can range and there may be followup treatments involved.  You can't really know what the treatments will cost because each is differnt and in some cases treatments could be many tens of thousands per infusion (with many infussions)  plus all the other costs of MRIs, CT scans… 

      Before she starts down this road get her in to see someone about insurance ASAP. Helping her with copays will be a fraction of the cost of footing the whole bill.  Next be sure she is seeing a melanoma specialist and get a second or third opinion.  

      I'm sorry she's having to go through this, but whatever her next steps are for treatment please try to help her navigate the insurance issuse first.
