      I have a mole that I have had all my life… Well every since I can remember .. It's a medium brown and it's defiantly smaller then a pencil eraser.. Well I noticed sometimes when I itch my arm after I itch it it turns into a bump… Obviously I'm freaking out … The bump then goes away after some time

       

       

       

      im terrified its bad …. And I don't wanna Google…. Any thoughts

          Yep…. Don't google.  I made the mistake of googling and was convinced I had 6-9 months to live and wouldn't see my daughter grow up!  If you are worried or concerned- have your derm check it out.  No biggie and will put your mind at ease.

              I actually was just at the derm two days ago….. She did see the mole but didn't think it was weird…. I did look at it closer and noticed there is a tiny bump in the middle of the mole… Can this be normal

                      I would try to insist to your dermatologist that you'd like at least a piece of it removed to be biopsied since it's causing you a lot of distress. Better safe than sorry.

                          Hey-I had the same thing.  Went to my dermatologist and said hey this mole is kind of funny-what do you think?  She said not to worry about it and sent me home .  A year or so after I had my family dr remove it and turned out to be melanoma that had spread into my lymph nodes3b.  The dermatologist at mayo told me if the dermatologist you are going to doesn't start pulling out the scalpel the second you say-hey this looks funny-then get a different dermatologist.  Bottom line-get it cut out immediately.  Little to no pain and you know.

                              I didn't think it looked funny-I had it all

                              my life so it always looked the same to me.  It was brown and a little black and about the size of the end of a woman's pinky.  The point is-if you have the slightest question then have it cut off.  It's kind of like hearing a loud crash in your basement and then telling yourself it is nothing instead of going down there and checking it out to find out what it is.  No book or even a dermatologist can tell you for certain that a mole is or isn't melanoma without lab work done on it and the only way to do lab work is to hack it off.  You need to find out what "the noise was in your basement".  Ya know what I mean?

                                              Congenital nevi often can have atypical features.  I had one on my ankle that actually looked worse than two of my primaries, but it never changed.  We thought we say change via a photograph, so I had it removed.  It was mildly atypical – not melanoma.

                                              Um, so if you scratch something, you can irritate it and it will swell.  Then you leave it alone and it goes back to normal.  That sounds about right to me.  It isn't changing except with trauma, and that is expected.  Take photographs and remove what changes and take your imagination out of the picture!!!  Don't google, don't research, look for that independent eye that would confirm this is something of interest!  Don't let your anxiety jump in and make problems where there are none.
