I would clearly like to know more about the Radial Growth Phase versus the Vertical Growth Phase, and if it is so imporatant why doesn't every pathologists report it in a patients path report? All information on this would be greatly appreciated..

Growth phase is subjective, and not all pathologists even comment on it.  Some pathologists don't use the vertical and radial growth phase in their report. They should. But nothing is standardized

0.30mm level II, you have a pretty good prognosis

Radial growth phase means there is no likelihood of metastasis happening, vertical growth phase means the melanoma started to grow into the skin and is riskier.  Pathologists should use these terms and forget the Clark level.

It's not so important.  It's not universally accepted.  How do you get depth without vertical growth?  Changes take time – even mitosis has taken time to be added to path reports and it has a lot of science behind it.  Ifgrowth  phase is ever accepted with good science to give significant prognostic value, it will be added to staging and THEN it will appear on path reports.

You have a small stage 1a lesion.  Extremely high survival rate.  Confirmation of whether it is VGP or RGP really won't change anything at this point.

they still use Clarks Level which was replaced by Breslow years ago.  Vertical or radial gp does give you accurate likelihood of disease progression.  Doubt change will happen
