Got spam-blocked on Eva's thread, so posting here:

Eva, I'm sorry to hear about your present status.  When I met with Dr. Wolchok before starting ipi-nivo, he mentioned that Sloan has seen some patients do well on chemo following checkpoint inhibitors (synergistic-type effect).  I've kept this in mind for myself.  Chemo-only–not so exciting.  Chemo with the possibility of a synergistic effect and a bridge to something else–more interesting.  I'd also consider attempting another run on BRAF-MEK.  (My recollection is that you are BRAF+.)

Echoing what Mat said!  My husband's mel specialist (Hamid) has mentioned several times to us in person and in presentations that chemo can absolutely have a synergistic effect.  I highly recommend you checking out this discussion from AACR 2016 (http://learn.peerviewpress.com/p/index.html?Promocode=815&collection=150203911-2-2&presentationid=p1).  Dr. Hamid is big on multiple combos, including chemo.  Might be worth discussing with your onc!

I am so incredibly sorry you are going through this, Eva.  My thoughts and prayers are with you!

          Best,

          Katie

                Hi Mat,

In a similar situation. My mom tried chemo as last line but side effects were too much so they discountinued. Benefits on staying on it just weren't there. We've seen 2 oncologist so far and best they could offer is palliative care. I'm trying to look into clinical trials but I am overwhelmed bc it's so much out there and don't know where to start. She also has an autoimmune disease already (psoriasis) which excludes her from a lot of trials. I just don't know what else to do. Can't think of anything else. I want to keep looking and trying and praying but I'm so discouraged at this point.

Its so painful even writing this.

                      Hi Eva,

So sorry for what you are going through.  I can't imagine.  I think someone had passed this on to you before….it is a list of possible options I had put together for Josh a bit ago….so here it is again….just in case:  http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2016/05/interesting-trial-options-for-josh.html

It covers IDO inhibitors, epacadostat, as well as a JAK inhibitor.

There is also this from Dr. Weber….touching on some of the same as well as atezolizumab with pembro, tvec with pembro, coxsackie virus therapy….for what it's worth:  http://chaoticallypreciselifeloveandmelanoma.blogspot.com/2016/03/immunology-updatewebinar-for-melanoma.html

Holding you in my heart.  Celeste
