2005 and 2009 back to the same foot , she always just did suregery to removed masses, no other treatment,

ok now 2011 back to same foot , was wondering if radiation will kill the mass;s there are 3 now biggest 2 cm will kill them thank you sheri from ohio

          Shari,

Radiation isn't known to do the best with melanoma to soft tissue. It's usually used after surgery. Once an area is radiated usually surgery cannot be performed again in that area. I just had this discussion today with my melanoma specialist.  He was giving me possible options but he wasn't suggesting just radiation.

My original mel was in 79 and am also dealing with recurrances.  I've done GMCSF in a trial and have since had 5 recurrances. Otherwise have been surgically dealt with like your mom. My recurrances were in 06 and 09 ,10 and 11 similar to your mom's!   Your mom might want them to test her latest tumors to see if she is BRaf + so she knows her options.

Wishing you the best, wish you didn't need to join us on the board,

          Linda
