I only have three months of interferon left. Its been a long haul, i finally have the fatigue, depression and nausea under control. I have really been feeling good. And picking up extraa shifts at work. (I am a nurse). Then, starting this past weekend, i started getting this sever itching on my lower back. Its spread all over my back area and sometimes on my hips. But there no rash, no reddeness, no areas of concern…its just plain itching that is driving me crazy! No changes in fabrics or deterg or soap or any of that. Has anyone ever had this problem?I only have three months of interferon left. I am walking around the house trying to find any corner i can use to scratch it. I am going to end up in a straight jacket.

Yes, I had itching too. Mine was under my arms. Doctor told me to use the cortisone cream to help. And it did for a short period of time but itching didn’t stop for me until after being off interferon for a month. Wishing you good luck and less itching!!Wendi

I didn't have itching while i was in Interferon but do have it now on IPI. Doc recommended Zyrtec over the counter which really helps. I wouldn't take anything without consulting with your onc, though. It has minor side effects that may mimic those of Interferon. Maybe he/she can prescribe something stronger? Best of luck with the remaining treatments You've came a long way already

I almost started itching reading your post. I, too, had severe itching during my 12 months of Interferon. Many times I said that the itching might make me quit Interferon…not the fatigue, nausea, chemo brain, etc. I wish I had some great suggestions. I think I tried every lotion on the market…I could have opened up my own little store…the lotion would seem to work for a day or two and that was it. My oncologist did prescribe Atarax but that didn't do much. The only thing that gave me any relief was an Aveeno bath and sometimes that would work only when I was in the tub, sometimes it did last longer.
I didn't have any rash to speak of either….just awful, awful itching. I give you credit for still working. I, too, am a nurse and there was no way I could work during Interferon.
I sympathize…
